F-5    James Marion “Jim” Hanchey was born in October 24, 1837 in Pike Co., Alabama. He was the twin brother of John Washington Hanchey. He migrated to Imperial Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana in 1859. He sailed from Mobile, Alabama to the Mississippi River and up to a point where he disembarked and journeyed to Marsh Bayou, Imperial Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.. He migrated to Dry Creek, Louisiana around 1862. He served in Company A, Crescent Regiment of the Louisiana Infantry during the War Between the States. He enlisted at Camp Pratt in New Iberia, Louisiana. He was married to Sophia Andrus Cannon on July 17, 1868. He was buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in DeRidder, Louisiana.
